    Water Hammer - after pipe change

    You don't want air in the pipes you need to purge it out, if you get water hammer after turning the water off you need to open every cold outlet. I had it this year and I tried everything and it only stopped when I triggered the ballvalve on the F+E tank.

    Bad case of water hammer.

    Is the kitchen tap ceramic disc? The cartridge on the cold side is probably worn, if there is an isolator on the tap turn it off and see if the hammering stops.

    Listen to each one with your ear against it, or a large scewdriver between the mixer and your ear. You will hear one with a hiss.

    All I know is this, as someone who hates pushfit but does use the occasional Hep, that picture is Polyplumb and the one with the majority of blow offs as the collar seems to unwind itself.

    Its true, for 13 years I have always fitted Salamander and had brushed off the haters thinking it must be their installations but I have had a nightmare with them recently, phone rings and I'm dragged away from my job or my tea to go and sort out failed pumps and run around at my expense, well...

    I cracked open one of my own drinks at Everyman once, a Bulmers and I had it taken off me. We paid a tenner each for two 'pizzas' and I swear to god and old rubber doormat would have been warmer and tastier.

    Cracked tile - who is liable?

    If there are spare tiles then just multitool straight through the grout and remove the tile, then fix/glue battons to allow new plasterboard to go up, the grout can be blended in.
