Can anyone recommend a decent multi meter, preferably under a 100 pounds. It's for checking boiler components so I don't need a top spec one ....just easy to use and reliable.
The fluke 115 looks good but its above my budget. My current socket and see one was great but it's developed a fault.
I'll do a landlord certificate without service for 75 pounds. If they want it serviced it's price on application as all appliances vary depending on whether I'm required to change seals. I keep a selection of seals but I've noticed my merchant has started selling them in packs of 5 or...
Experience tells me 10mm won't be enough but it depends on the kW and distance the pipe runs.
As a general rule it's 15mm up to a hob, but some modern gas ranges require 22mm.
It depends where the vessel is, some models they sit in a jig behind the boiler.... stupid idea but newer models they have moved it to the front...
If it's at the back then changing it is an arse and will often need a new flue kit....so by the time you've finished it's a new boiler kind of...
What are engineers opinion on Intergas, I've installed a couple of these boilers for people and so far I've been impressed with them. They are a bit clunky and heavy but for the kW you get a lot of hot water and they appear to be pretty reliable.
Just want to know what other engineers think of...
Gas Safe have limited powers and they act on complaints. They have no right of entry and are appointed by the HSE to manage the gas safe register
If the tenants were to complain and invite gas safe into the house they may well do an inspection. Failure to provide accommodation to a certain...
It's in the gas safe magazine this month....26(9) checks is what's needed. However, if there is CO and the source can't be confirmed then you need a full CO survey doing.
If you call the gas emergency service they will be able to detect the presence of CO in the air but because they can't do...
It can't be at risk and it can't be I.D and the only other thing we can do is say it's non compliant and the landlord has a legal duty to comply with that. Obviously the landlord can pay you to fit them but an awful lot won't pay the 70 pounds I charge to fit them.
It would be interesting to...
It's classed as non compliant which is the same as not to current standards. However, failure to fit a required safety feature like smoke or co alarms could make the landlord or gas safe engineer liable for any damages. So like always document everything you see and do because it could prove...
I was at Worcester earlier in the year, you can buy the tools from them cheaper than that.
Some lads use mini pressure washers and even the Worcester trainer said some of their guys use them. Another thing they use is vinegar and bicarb in particular with the ones with baffles.
I will probably call gas safe on Tuesday but IGEM state the position of the primary meter and regulator must be in close proximity and the secondary meters are not shown with regulators.
It's kind of common sense because the purpose of the regulator is to take mains pressure gas and regulate it...
Hi just come across an installation low pressure and primary and secondary meter both have regulators installed.
Pretty sure it's not allowed unless it's a two stage system but this is low pressure.
I've explained that the primary meter must be regulated but after that the secondary should not...
