Hi there. We have recently moved into a rental. We told our landlord and he says he can't smell anything.

The boiler is in our spare room which we were going to make our due baby room in September. But I'm not too keen on putting baby in that room the smell it is only apparent when boiler is on.

There is also water that has started to drip from a pipe.

Should I just keep reporting it to landlord or should I get someone else in to quote then just give him the bill?

I mean I shouldn't have to do this but if it gets the result I may just have too.

Love you all, stay safe and be kind

One way or another you need a competent oil engineer to check out/cure problem.
Out of interest when was it last serviced?

there is no sticker i can see on the unit mentioning last service date. the house are are in is part of about 16 homes (10 of which are holiday homes) the landlord has built them all he is quite a handy man.

we have asked him and he said he cant smell anything, the previous tenant mentioned a smell to the neighbors but said he did nothing about it. she lived here for 2 years.

I Feel i should get a professional oil engineer like you mentioned, but i dont feel i should pay for it... my next option is get my wifes - Midwife to mention the smell and we can tell our landlord to get it resolved for the well being of our child. (it may be going over his head but i need to get something done)

thank you for your response.

If you organise something without the landlords agreement then the costs are with you.
Report again to landlord and also worth a call to environmental health at the council.
