I am in the process of installing a new bathroom in our house as a keen DIY'er. I seem to have picked up most of the skills without flooding the house or having any major disasters (so far). I am looking for a couple of bits of advice that I cannot find in any of my recently aquired books (or...

Hi, I'm Jack (54) this is my first post. I served my apprenticeship in the shipyards of Glasgow a number of years ago, but was out the trade for a while. Having never really dealt with the domestic side I have retrained with a distance learning course.
Can anybody help me regarding connecting...
It seems that the U Bend in the trap below a rainwater downpipe is blocked and I can't get it cleared. I'm a real novice! Any help would be appreciated

Hello,
British Gas installed our new boiler. After stormy weather it became apparent that water gets into the flue pipe. It has an opening to allow air to get in. Unfortunately, it also lets in rain water, which is driven in by the wind. British Gas so far have said it is a fault with the...

Just fitted an air conditioning unit to the bedroom.
(Yes the 1.5 days of sunshine prompted me to part with £250 at B&Q for one)
But the external pipework is looking a bit of an eyesore...
Inside I have squirted "No more big gaps" into the 80mm hole. Then re-papered.
But now my outside...

Hi,
don't know whether rain goods are within the remit of this forum but you guys may have some 'associated knowledge'? Basically I have to do some repairs/corrections to some of the guttering on my house and would like to match what I have. It looks as if the guttering is "Bartol", certainly...

Hello
I've got a plumbing query - I'm redoing a bathroom and trying to add an extra sink, but unfortunately on opening up the walls I've found out that the area I was planning on putting a sink into has a downpipe running through that I can't touch.
To get round this I was thinking of...

Hi,
What products do plumbers generally use when terminating the condense drain from a condensing boiler?
Strap on boss to soil stack or rainwater downpipe / Waste connection to 40 or 32mm / straight or P traps?
Does anyone ever use an air break or check valves?
Any info would be appreciated! ;)
