Hello,
I let out a small flat and last week, the tenants called to say the potterton boiler did not fire up. I asked them if they topped up the prepay gas meter and it turns out they were on emergency credit. I told them they needed to top it up to get the boiler working again. They did, it...
Good morning,
I’m after some advice reference a powerflue fire. I think my fire is past its sell by date. The fan works ok, but the fire has stopped throwing out any kind of heat.
I was wondering if I could buy a replicate fire, without the fan, anywhere in the UK.or do I have to buy both...
Hi,
I have an old Potterton Prima 40F in my house, which I'm guessing is 10-20 years old.
When I moved into the property in the winter of 2014, I had the same fault as I've seen tonight.
I can hear a click, the boiler fan starts up and then a click and the fan stops. This repeats again and...
I have just been looking at the back page of the Regin service forms, under item 2.4 it says "Change wheel type fire valve for remote acting type" is this a requirement that has been sneaked in and passed me by?
How far do you all go during servicing to test for leaks on gas fires?
Up to the gas valve is easy -- drop test/ LDF on joints.
But I had a gas fire this week, leaking from where the control 'pusher' goes into the gas valve. Visually it looked OK. But after smelling gas while using the fire...
I have moved into a house that has a Firemaster High Output Back Boiler (BB) and oil central heating.
Everything was working fine until I noticed at weekend when fire was lit the hot water cylinder did not heat but pipe running from back boiler to the cylinder was roasting (couldn't put my hand...
hi guys, went to carry out a service... went to high fire setting mode but nothing happened? Blue flashing light 5 times.. checked condensate not blocked.. flue good..
Reset the thermostat knob but nothing happened. Standing gas pressure 25mb to the gas valve..
When I put the heating on from...
Hi,
I've converted half my out-house into a small office. It's getting rather cold in there now the temperature is starting to drop.
I want to wall mount an electric fire but the only space available is underneath my boiler.
I'm concerned this could be dangerous. Any advice is welcome...
hi guys, came across my first valiant combi. I couldn't figure out how to get high fire and low fire to check my ratios and co2.
There wasn't a manual.
Any advice?
I'm used to Worcester boilers.
Worcester danesmoor.
Customer ring to say they have been resetting the boiler for weeks.
Ran out of oil and sucked sludge right through from the tank, right into the pump.
Cleaned out and got it to go, but fitting a new pump on Thursday .
hi guys went to replace a leaky oil flexi hose today which it beers leaking for some time.. So when I fired the boiler on it was if it was struggling to fire up and there was a grinding noise too. Would this be a new oil pump? I'll be doing my oftec at the end of this month. Cheers to all you...
I had a new glass-fronted gas fire installed a few months ago, not long after I moved into my bungalow. About half an hour after turning the fire on I hear a loud pop or crack coming from the wall where the fire is. I hear this roughly once every half an hour. I also hear this noise a couple of...
Need to get someone in to change motor on valve as no hot water unless valve is manually locked open but it may be a while as plumbers busy.
Will locking the valve open cause the boiler to fire or is it the thermostat that fires the boiler? Currently using immersion but would prefer gas as...
I am setting up a campsite and want to build a shower block that has a boiler heated by wood (or sawdust). I need a plumber who has experience in this.
There will be three showers that will run for around 4 hours a day and the campsite is based near Chichester.
If this sounds like something...
Hi all,
Cant get the boiler to fire up, thus no heating. Messed a bit with it earlier today, and re-programmed the Danfoss controller, and it worked.
Heating was on, and then went off on time, but didnt kick in on the next cycle. Tried setting temp up high on thermostat, and turning electrics...
Our CO alarms went off the other day. I did all the tests in manafacters instructions plus a few more to ensure fire is safe to use.
I conducted a combustion gas analysis and it threw up a surprising result.
CO2 6.0
Co 350
Ratio 0.0065
Now I would not usually feel happy about leaving this...
Has anyone recently done a LGSC at a house with a Coalbrookdale fire in it?
What did you test? I know its not a gas appliance but it still burns solid fuel and produces CO2. Any insight would be good. Thanks.
Vaillant Turbomax VUW 242E.
Fires fine on heating, turn on hot tap and burner goes out.
So it’s recognising there’s s call for h/w.
Could this be the diverter valve or more likely the micro switch?
Hot water is achieved with heating on apparently. Anyway to check the diverter on this boiler?
Good afternoon,
Apologies if this has been asked/answered else ware - I have had a thorough search but just not quite found the answer!
I removed a radiator at the weekend - by shutting off the mains water, turning off each valve, removing the radiator and then draining each side of the...
