Hello I’m hoping for some perceptive / input as I’m a long-distance landlord trying to unpick the best thing to do. Gas safety certificate was done on my rental flat (1st floor) which has a 10 year old Aviston E-combi EVO boiler. It failed based on rusting external flu components, which has...
Hi all, my plumber has installed a new boiler in place of the old one. The old one had a vertical flu that terminated out the top of the roof this new one is horizontal. The plumber has left the vertical flu in place, I asked him why it’s not being removed and he told me it doesn’t matter...
Hi everyone,
I have searched on the forum and read many of existing thread however I am not still confident I found all info for my personal case, if someone could help.
I am in the process of buying a house and the surveyor identified that the boiler flu might be too close to a opening...
My daughter is having a kitchen extension and the boiler is going to be fitted on an inside wall with the flu running around 20 feet along the top of her new kitchen cupboards and out the wall. I think it’s a normal combi boiler (maybe Valiant).
Is this normal and are there any safety...
I've just had a Worcester Bosh 25-32 Heat Slave oil fired boiler installed and the sound from the flue is like a jet engine and can be heard 25 yards away at the bottom of my garden. I'm told oil fired boilers are quite noisy but this is ridiculous. Is this normal. I even spent a few pounds on a...

does anyone know of a system that will allow a gas boiler (any) with a flu length to reach the ridge line (second story from ground) on the outside of the house, so about 7 or 8m? The boiler can be mounted on the external wall so there is only one bend.
We have an annoying neighbour and so...
hi anyone who can help I,m not sure if I,m on the right site, but anyway we have moved into an old house which we have a drive to, which is ours but we have to give access to the neighbour so as they can use their back door walking only, which is not a problem but they have a flu from an old oil...
Hi Guys
I've seen a post on here regarding leaking flu seals on Trianco balanced flu causing the burner to cycle on/off. I have that problem and removing the air feed pipe solves it, the burner stays out and runs fine.
We're looking to move the boiler in a few weeks (into new extension) so don't...
Hi we recently tried to get a gas safety certificate in our flat but because the flu is sealed it has been marked as at risk.
After paying for investigation work (~£100) we were told that they could install inspection hatches (£400-£600) and that would be the end of the matter. However after...
What should of taken one day has now gone into two days due to man flu.
Apart from sniffing solvent weld what does one suggest to get through such trying times?
Hi Guys,
I have a new combi boiler, with the flue going straight up through the ceiling and roof.
The ceiling, around the flu is plywood, with a 12mm gap around the flu pipe.
What can I safely use to seal the gap?
Thanks.
