I’m at a loss with this one. We renovated a run down house and have lived in it now for about 16 months. We had a new Greenstar 8000 Style 35 installed. Just before Christmas - about 12 months after install - we came home to a funny smell like paint, shoe polish etc - a very chemical smell...
We went about things the wrong way. Hopefully, we are getting our 'new installation sorted' out. But it will never be ideal. We have had a lot of trouble with this boiler. My partner bought it from B & Q (Special Offer). My partner is Polish and I suggested that she had a chat with a Polish man...
So, I get a call from my mate from Poland, seriously he's OK, a mulit trader but very good (other than being Polish!)
Anyway, he was going to change rad vales for TRV's. Nice one.
So he confused me as he said he was going to turn off the valve undo it from the pipe, put the new valve on.
I...

Hello gentleman. I've had a new boiler and cylinder installed. I became suspicious after a few things were done wrong - nothing serious, but silly things like wires being attached to hot pipes instead of being properly tied to the wall and also the controller was wired wrong which meant that...

I had a brand new Vaillant ecotec 837 boiler fitted in June and ever since then there have been intermittent rotten egg smells coming from the boiler. There are no hot water outlets in the room where the boiler is, it seems to emanate from the boiler/boiler cupboard itself.
The gas safe...

Hi - I've just bought the items listed below and my plumber tells me that I'm missing valves that get connected to the Albion Ultrasteel cylinder (from the boiler??).
He's Polish with little knowledge of English, and I don't know any Polish at all! Can someone please tell me what's missing from...

Hi,
I have a shower hose connected to a mixer tap.
The bath has a pop up waste operated by a big chrome knob covering the overflow situated just below the taps. The connector on the mixer taps for the shower hose is on the underside - just above the big chrome knob! It is just possible to fit...

Hi all,
I'm hoping someone can advise on the best way to insulate and box in some external central heating pipework. Don't ask why the pipes run outside, I don't even know myself, the plumber told my parents it had something to with not being able to drill through a lintel. Anyway it's done...

Hi All,
Just had an indirect unvented cylinder installed together with a system boiler. The engineer has attached the wiring to a hot water pipe. Is this ok? It looks a bit odd to me. In fact all those long horizontal pipes seem a bit strange. What do you think? Thanks for looking.

Hi all,
I have been asked to rerplace some radiators in a old house which has a single pipe radiator system in place.
The Client has purchased his nice shiny radiators and Honeywell TRVs and new lock shields.
Questions
The old radiators are top fed and low return, can the new radiators...

Hi, what do you all think of that recent AA advert where the woman says to John Cleese "no need to call your COWBOYS" as there's water pouring through the ceiling as he looks through a paper "Il'l call the AA" she say's. I find this deeply offensive as they're implying that anyone found in the...
