Had a shower tray fitted and to install bar shower plumber has chased out two grooves from floor and installed hot/cold pipes. Wall was dot and dabbed plasterboard so small cavity behind plasterboard so was wondering how to patch it up before tanking. Cannot cover with plasterboard as it would protrude so was wondering if just using normal plaster would be ok.

does the tanking kit come with tape for the corners? presumably you will be tiling, I would be inclined to tape over and tank then tile.

Thanks both. Steveb - to clarify do you just mean tape directly over the gap and tile over. Yes, the kit comes with tape and I will be tiling.
I did initially think the same as Pipeman as I have bonding plaster and finish but didnt know whether I had to cover the pipes with something to protect them.

Cover the pipes to protect them from plaster beforehand. Also I wouldn't tile on dot and dab plasterboard. Will just be a wet mush in a few years. Strip it off and use aqua panel of similar.

Shouldn't be given a good tile adhesive is used and tiled properly although i'd agree with stripping back and using aqua board/tile backer board
