4.5 hours to change a set of bath taps. Well, not so much to change them, but when I was re-plumbing them the pipe kept leaking in a really awkward to get to joint right by a wall. Ended up remaking the pipe about 5 times I think.

Incredibly rubbish day!

Bath taps can be a total nightmare. I feel your pain.

How many times did you say the F-word?

Lots of times. Why is it always the most annoying/difficult to get to fitting that leaks? Sods law I think.

Amusingly, it beats the 4 hours it took me to remove a set of taps in a 100 year old house. I swear to god they were the original taps! Good old square holes in the bath, a complete nightmare.

PS This house is 12 years old :)

Quite a lot!! Especially when I got myself a nice circular cut on my finger when it slipped off the cutter and dug into a 15mm pipe. Those ones do hurt a bit!

Only 12 years old? Should have kicked a hole in the cardboard wall and made yourself some extra room.

Hehe! I would have loved to but it was the cavity wall and the pipes were right up against it already. Mixer shower pipework was running right off the top of the tap tails and there was no room to do anything. Of course, I wouldn't normally have bothered to re-plumb them, especially given the circumstances but the pipes sprung back when I removed the tap connectors from the old taps and they just wouldn't reach the new ones for some reason.

A proper PAIN IN THE ARSE job basically.

There wasn't a decent bit of pipe to fit push fit flexis too. Every part of the pipe was covered in solder fittings or solder that was stuck to the pipe.

Thought as much :) The idea of using flexis disgusts me :)

Would much rather spend 4.5 hours on a job than even try to put one in, except on monoblock taps of course :) Then it's all ok!
