What do you wear to work? When I first started site work I bought myself some panoply work trousers (on DIY dads recommendation), Timberland work boots and the usually PPE, but after a couple of days of the chippies taking the mick out of my trousers I decided to wear jeans and tracky bottoms like everyone else. However, I get through a pair of jeans every month or so from being on my kneesall the time (I can see why working girls wear skirts).


I have recently been doing more private work and don’t like to turn up looking rough in mucky boots and ripped jeans, so I have bought some Scruffs worktrousers, Scruffs steel toe canvas trainers and CK knee pads. It all looks thedogs, feels comfortable and I'm finding the built in pocket pouches great for keeping inserts and fixing when I'm on the hop up doing a first fix. Scruffs also do a range of staydry polo shirts for £10, which look good as I do tend toget quite sweaty in tight spaces. I was thinking they would look nice with a company logo etc printed on them.

It all sounds a bit "scruffy", but I was wondering what the rest of you wear? Jeans, Snickers, Dickies, Scruffs etc. What offers the right balance of durability, comfort and affordability?

I'm loving my canvas shoes for the privates - My boots are always in a right state from site work and it's a pain if you have to take them off. My surname's Dickerson and my nickname when I was younger was dickie so I did consider setting up as Dickies and just adding "plumbing & Heating under their logo )

Snickers are overpriced , for pretty boys you see in merchants who are so clean they look like they never done an hours work.snickers never last any longer than trousers that cost half the price.

I did buy some Snickers, but the sizes were all weird? I'm a 36" waist, so i thought I could squeez into the 35", not a chance! They were more like a 32"!

Sruffs boots, best I ever owned, bought from PTS - have rubber over toe so take some wear when kneeling down.

Been wearing Snickers for nearly three decades after recommend by electrician - Brilliant! I like the all in one, which is a plumber's outfit. However, wearing the kecks at the moment because all in ones wore out and can't afford new ones.

I checked out Blakelader and was impressed with quality, but being short-bum the knee pads end up around my shins (think 'cotton' - Hank Hill's dad) - gutted because I liked the sound of the breathable fabric compared to snickers.

Ive had my snickers workwear for 3 yrs now going strong. If you look after them and dont rub silicone, gunk and all the rest of plumbing bits on them then im sure you'll keep them clean just like any other workwear...

Don't understand this, my snickers fit perfectly, truck is to go to your local workwear shop and try a few on. I only wear snickers floorlayers trousers for the good kneepads, and the fact that they last longer than any of the other trogs I've had in the past. Last pair lasted a year.

I wear snickers have two pairs on rotation and haven't needed to buy any for the past 2 years got an older pair with a rip in the knee that I use for site bashing when it comes up

I always found Strauss Directs clothing to be very good, German made as I recall and not too expensive.

I have actually just had some stitching go on my Snickers, although I think they do come with a life time stitching guarentee

Snickers, had the floor layer trousers, used every day for 8 months on a building site and for crawling around servicing cars, couldn't recomend them more highly, will deffinetly re-invest in a pair when they wear out

Dewalt trousers with knee pads, Ambler steel toe cap shoes and a warm t-shirt and jumper. Dewalt trousers are great with lots of pockets.

Just been in arco and got 2 pairs of snickers 29.90 + vat on sale with free knee pads and treated myself to one of them soft shell jackets with the hood recommended by another member oh the pants are each not for both
